Accessories for the Husqvarna 145BT
Discussion for the
Give-and-take is closed. To enquire our experts a question about a office, utilize the Q&A feature on our production pages.
Question: Husqvarna 145BT
Smallengineguy97
I take a Husqvarna 145BT that won't start. Spark plug, primer, and fuel lines accept been replaced. ninety PSI compression and adept spark. Whatsoever advice?
Spray starting fluid through the air intake into the cylinder and see if it starts.
xc PSI is very weak IMO. Id pull the muffler and take a look at your piston through the exhaust port. Chances are yous've got some scoring or carbon. Unfortunately the rings for this aren't likewise cheap, merely that's even so my judge. ninety PSI is low for pretty much any engine except some of the old Tecumseh stuff.
Okay...what compression tester am I supposed to use? The only i I have is from Harbor Freight and it rarely reads above 60 psi on almost 2 strokes.
Mr. Bulb Now you lot know from ALL the posts on hither and all that yous have read that a proficient operating 2 stroke usually is much higher than 60psi. I saw this thread and thought, 'Oh no, not Another ane!" We accept to see what happened to Meathead'south Husqvarna blower. I hope he got the rings unstuck then he can PROPERLY practice a compression test. Expect, many small 2 strokes engines will show ninety-130PSI and run not bad all day. It is possible some accept fifty-fifty higher pinch. I have NEVER tested a NEW 2 stroke's compression, so I can't say. But I know an engineer and machinist that designs and manufactures RINGS for these engines and they are UNLIKE stock rings. Stock Rings let too much blow by and thus lower pinch. The tighter the gap on the ends of the rings in one case installed in the cylinder, the more compression and less accident by. SO, in summary Mr. Bulb....60psi is NOT considered normal compression for these engines. 90psi and upward is more than the norm.
As far as what type compression tester to use...a professional person i (non from People's republic of china Freight) will yield more accurate results.
The Folks at Kawasaki claim to take the nearly accurate one bachelor to exam pocket-size 2 stroke engines. They claim it is 100% leak proof and that the other "proper noun" brands all leak somewhat.
Well BSmitty You sure are right near the cost for a ring! 33 and change from this site. I realize this is a haversack blower with perchance a 33cc to 50cc total crank engine. I think that many two strokes will run quite well at 90psi. I do not think that is very weak..just a picayune depression. I am Non familiar with the typical operational psi on a Husqvarna engine. If I knew who fabricated the engine I would know better. Any myriad of things could be wrong with this backpack link removed the carburetor to the overall status of the engine to the electric wiring that plow the ignition on and off. The original poster needs to kickoff with each operation and diagnose it to make certain it is within the specifications that let information technology to run. Many small 2 strokes volition start and run with LESS than 90psi compression. They will surprise you, just think this. Oil helps allow the piston ring to seal within the cylinder on ANY engine. The oil in these is only supplied when FUEL is supplied. Folks tend to forget that. A "Dry" reading of 90psi would be very adept. The correct procedure to test the compression on this engine link removed with fuel lines continued and full. Throttle broad open..Choke fully open. Pull the starter about 5 times.
Update: I replaced the air filter, cleaned the carb, burn down cleaned the muffler, saw no impairment to the piston from the frazzle port, sprayed start fluid, added enzyme treatment to the fuel, blasted compressed air into the cylinder, and the motor is on the verge of firing. Theoretically, with compression, spark, fuel, and complimentary flowing exhaust the engine should operate, but it'due south non playing by the rules
[QUOTE=ShotOut;84157]Well BSmitty You sure are right almost the price for a ring! 33 and change from this site. I realize this is a haversack blower with maybe a 33cc to 50cc full creepo engine. I think that many 2 strokes will run quite well at 90psi. I do not call up that is very weak..just a little low. I am NOT familiar with the typical operational psi on a Husqvarna engine. If I knew who made the engine I would know ameliorate. This Husqvarna has a Kawasaki engine, by the way.
Some will effort and fire at 60psi. Most need between xc psi and 120 psi. (Link to ebay site for compression gauge I utilise). If you lot accept the muffler off and the push a small wood dowel against the ring, practice yous meet it movement upward and downward? If yous put a tiny bit of oil in the cylindar the creepo it you'll see it jump to 120 psi or college. Like Shotout says, you lot can't check it dry out.
Again pull the flywheel, cheque the key. If it's congenital in and it's almost shine like the rest of the surface then it's been shear. Sometimes when the unit of measurement is assembled, there is something else like the clutch or the blower bolt property it in identify. Even if information technology'southward in the wrong place, you will yet get spark (there are no timing contact) merely the timing could be off. The ii rivet holes holding the magnet on the flywheel should line up with the two legs of the ignition roll when the piston is just a hair pass TDC.
Likewise, are you noticing whatsoever puffs of fuel when you lot pull on the starter with the spark plug out? Do you lot smell fuel when you do that?

Update: with starting fluid straight injected into the cylinder and the throttle compressed, the engine begins to run for appx. five seconds before it dies out slowly. very dislocated at present. It has the chapters to run, simply just doesn't
Then y'all got to expect at the Carb. Yous say yous "cleaned" the carb. What kind of shape is the reed valves and the metering diaphram? Are yous adusting the mixing screws?
I want to replace the metering values, they're not optimal condition. Could some one please inform me of where to buy a rebuild kit and how to identify the kit needed and how to place the carb in general. Last I checked, I couldn't find the adjustment screws, simply I'll check again because I wasn't searching for them specifically
